Celebrating Anick Vorbe’s My Drumbeats – Expanding Our Tavolo Dinner Series into the World of Literature

At Thomas Fuchs Creative, our Tavolo Dinner Series has always been about celebrating creativity in its many forms. Over the years, we’ve hosted extraordinary evenings honoring artists whose work inspires and challenges us, pairing design, cuisine, and conversation in a way that brings people together around the table.

Last Friday, we took a bold step forward and expanded our vision beyond the art world, hosting our first-ever dinner dedicated to an author. We were thrilled to celebrate the debut book My Drumbeats by the talented Anick Vorbe, whose storytelling captivated us from the very first page.

With this milestone event, we proudly add a new dimension to our series: the three A’s – Art, Architecture, and now Author. This evolution couldn’t come at a more fitting time, taking place just ahead of the nationally and internationally celebrated Miami Book Fair. As always, we strive to be ahead of the curve, and this evening was no exception.

A Celebration of Heritage and Storytelling

Thomas Fuchs Decor 24K Polka Dot Murano Drinking Glass

The entire evening was inspired by Anick’s Haitian heritage, woven through every detail of the event. From the invitation design to the table décor, the spirit of Haiti was ever-present.

The tablescape was a masterpiece in itself, featuring Thomas Fuchs’ 24K gold polka dot glasses, which shimmered alongside gold palm placemats, evoking both elegance and cultural richness. The setting perfectly mirrored the themes of Anick’s writing – bold, soulful, and deeply connected to tradition.

The menu, crafted exclusively for the evening, was a culinary homage to Haiti. Guests savored:

  • Three Mushroom Black Truffle Rice – earthy and decadent, symbolizing roots and growth

  • Creole Shrimp – vibrant and full of flavor, honoring Haitian spices and history

  • Potato Purée – a creamy, grounding complement to the bold dishes

  • And for dessert, Thomas’ signature Carrot Coconut Cake, a sweet finale that has become a beloved staple of our dinners

The Perfect Non-Alcoholic Pairing

Opius Non- Alcoholic Elixir

For this intimate ladies-only evening, we wanted to create an atmosphere of refinement and inclusivity — one where every guest could savor the experience, whether they chose to drink alcohol or not. Enter OPIUS Elixire, the evening’s signature beverage, and the perfect pairing for discerning palates.

Founded in 2020 by Leander Beuckels and Lucas Lambrechts, OPIUS was born from a shared belief that an exciting drink shouldn’t always require alcohol. These two passionate cocktail enthusiasts set out to redefine the world of spirits, creating bold, magical beverages that capture all the artistry and sensory depth of traditional cocktails — without a single drop of alcohol.

Crafted with a special formulation of plants and herbs, OPIUS represents a revolution in cocktail culture, offering complexity and sophistication for those seeking a different kind of indulgence. Its presence at the dinner perfectly complemented the rich flavors of the Haitian-inspired menu, giving our guests a truly elevated and inclusive tasting experience.

Why My Drumbeats Matters

Anick’s debut book is a powerful narrative exploring identity, heritage, and the rhythms that shape our lives. Her words resonate far beyond the page, offering readers an intimate glimpse into a journey that is both deeply personal and universally relatable.

Hosting this dinner allowed us to celebrate not only her book but also the importance of storytelling itself. As we set the table for this momentous evening, we reflected on how creativity spans mediums — a beautifully told story can move us just as profoundly as a painting or sculpture.

A New Chapter for the Tavolo Dinner Series

Book Celebration Dinner

This evening marked an important milestone for us. With Anick’s debut, we’ve opened the door to new possibilities and conversations.

From this night forward, the Tavolo Dinner Series officially encompasses Art, Architecture, and Author — a testament to the diversity of ideas and inspiration that fuel our work.

We are endlessly grateful to Anick, our incredible guests, and everyone who made this dinner possible. Here’s to many more evenings of connection, creativity, and conversation.

And, of course, we’re thrilled that My Drumbeats will be available starting September 20th, 2025, just in time for readers to discover its magic before the Miami Book Fair begins.

Have a great weekend & pick up a copy of the book
