GIN & TONIC & MURANO GLASS - A STORY OF BROTHERLY LOVE ITALIAN STYLE

Seguso Brothers Pierpaolo & GianAndrea w/ Thomas

Welcome to our ONLINE STORE  and blog.

As a barware, lighting and home accessories design company, at Thomas Fuchs Creative we specialize in handmade goods. Every week we give you a behind the scenes look at the people, places and things that inspire us.

Just two weeks ago Milan Design Week was in full action. Once a year the city of Milan, Italy invites the world to show then how "Italians do it better".

Milan Design Week stands out on the cultural calendar for its unparalleled global impact. At the primary fair, Salone del Mobile, leading global brands present their newest collections, serving as a pivotal platform for observing trends and innovations. Yet it is often at the more conceptual exhibitions at Fuorisalone where grander ideas take shape. It is here where design, architecture, art and more intersect.

Seguso Glass Flowers in Fiori Chiari

The entire week is filled with design activity—the districts of Brera, Tortona and beyond hosting pop-up installations and exhibits, talks and discussions, and with parties flowing into the night. Brands put out their very best show, but mainly Milan Design Week is about the sharing of ideas on how design can enhance our lives.

Last year while staying at our Home Away From Home, The Principe di Savoia, we were relaxing watching TV only to stumble upon the reality show Roberta e Basta. This year we found ourselves in the store in the Brera District bumping into the brothers Seguso who Thomas as the head of Donghia worked with the team for years creating everything Murano Glass, vases, chandeliers, table lamps, mirrors and more.

Seguso's Brera Installation

Seguso Vetri d'Arte was the guest of Roberta e Basta Gallery at 3 via fiorechiari.

Seguso's passion and craftsmanship for Design Week is expressed along Fiorichiari Street with 3 installations that aim to DESTRUCTURE the elements of the Murano Chandeliers by decontextualizing them to create new suggestions, The exhibition continues in Roberta e Basta Gallery with the selection of artworks, vases, lamps , chandeliers, furniture and custom projects by Seguso Vetri d'Arte.

SEGUSO'S NIGHT LIGHT

Seguso Murano Glass 1397 Gin

When we bumped into the Seguso Brothers they explained that over the years both the brothers have had a passion of Gin. So with the brotherly love of Gin combined with the history of glass making in Murano they set out to design a handcrafted gin in a Murano Glass Bottle using the iconology of the Rooster, Fox and Snake the symbols of the island of Murano. The 1397 is from the history of their company on the Island.

Gin Dry Botanical Distillate made with 14 botanicals made with 14 botanicals of the Venetian tradition, including Salicornia which was anciently used in glass recipes for the best fusion of glass in Murano and which releases a light salinity also artichoke, pomegranate, chamomile, seeds of cumin, elderflower, timut pepper, cedar, dog rose, karkadè, sea wormwood, ocean algae and sea fennel.
