Welcome to our ONLINE STORE  and blog.

As a barware, lighting and  home accessories design company, we at Thomas Fuchs Creative specialize in handmade goods. Every week we give you behind the scenes to the people, places and things that inspire us.

As the buzz from Miami Art Basel dies down we invited you to learn more about the real dinners and artists that were celebrated and the unique tastings that made the moon over Miami shine all the more bright.

The Mesoamerican Pyramids inspired Acosta Tequila Bottle Design

Over the last 16 years Michou Mahtani and Thomas Fuchs have been quietly creating a global goldmine based on alcohol creating handmade barware collections under their namesake brand Thomas Fuchs Creative.

As covered in multiple global outlets in print , online and in media these gentlemen launched their brand at the time of the 1st market crash in 2008 featured on air on Fox Television Small Business Spotlight as saying "if there was ever a time to start drinking it should be now ".

Their debut collection launched at renown New York retailer Barneys New York with a record 8 times sell trough directly from the warehouse to customers before even reaching the sales floor in store going on to performing on that level in legendary retailers such as Le Bonmarche, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Saks and more.

Michou Mahtani, Former Remy Martin Louis XIII Brand Director & Photographer Matthew Rolston launch Black Pearl Limited Edition

The couple met in NYC. Mahtani who was in his position as global brand director for Remy Martins Louis XIII saw the potential in Fuchs' talent and invested in the company financially backing it and creating Thomas Fuchs Creative LLC a 50 percent partnership.

Thomas Fuchs Creative brings craftsmanship by skilled artisans to market previously only available to the trade. Traditional techniques such as hand carving, lost wax casting and glass blowing are accessible at a price point without compromising the design aesthetic.

Thomas Fuchs Barware

Mahtani went on to tapping his family connections in India to secure factories that could manufacture barware that leverage the art and techniques of India with the refinement of an Italian finish. Along the way Mahtani had implemented the blue print he formulated for Remy Martin by matching artists and their collections with alcohol brands that evoke the same ethos of he evening making it seamless.

The Tavolo Dinner Series where at their quarterly dinners Mahtani and Fuchs select an artist to invite to be highlighted. Thomas then goes into full design mode creating a collection of barware or drinking glasses that are directly inspired by the artist current collection .

Acosta Tequila sits for up to 18th months in French Cognac Barrels

Mahtani like a good cellar master started hunting for alcohol brands to pair and have them participate at each dinner of their series. The genius of Mahtani is his capacity to combine legendary maisons such as Laurent Perrier to renown brands as Chateau Declans Whispering Angel to new brands such Soto Sake and the latest brand highlighted at the Art Basel "Morocco 2 Miami" Tavolo Dinner December 2024 Acosta Tequlia by Frank Acosta.

Frank's Mexican-American heritage serves as the foundation and gravitas of the Tequila while honoring his background he has created a tribute to the beauty and traditions of Mexico and the world around us. Acosta Tequila's ultra premium Añejo is coveted by the most exclusive restaurants and bars for its elegant and creamy flavor tinged with ripe Agave.

Acosta's Agave Fields

Acosta Tequila is committed to economically, socially and environmentally sustainable practices throughout our supply chains. They are  unique having chosen suppliers that are committed to mitigating carbon footprint, reforestation, and clean energy. When choosing Acosta Tequila, you can be proud to know that you are supporting a sustainable brand that cares about your future and the future of this earth.

Mahtani and Fuchs were introduced to Acosta Tequila while in Mexico in 2021 and went to have the full tour from fields to factory (see image below) to be able to stand behind their choice in choosing Acosta as a participant at one of their Art Dinners.

Mahtani & Fuchs at Acosta Tequila's Bottling Plant in Mexico City
  • In producing all glass, our factory uses a state-of-the-art clean cogeneration system with highly efficient natural gas that produces 0% CO2 emissions.
  • the distillery is a third-generation family farm in Tequila, Mexico. With mango trees and a duck sanctuary on the property, our farm is certified by the Industria Limpia (Clean Industry) and is diligent in composting, renewable energy and recycling.
  • the bottle is fully recyclable and made in Mexico, supporting local communities.

As a company Acosta Tequila takes it one step further in that they protect and preserve the land and culture they benefit from. Quick, agile, and a powerful predator of the jungle, the jaguar is revered as gods in Ancient Mexican culture. It is a symbol of strength, courage, and spiritual power. The jaguar plays a vital role in the jungle, controlling other species’ populations and helping maintain a healthy ecosystem.

Unfortunately, due to deforestation, illegal hunting, and loss of wild prey, the jaguar population continues to decline and the species has even become extinct in some countries. Acosta Tequila is dedicated to aiding in jaguar preservation efforts and raising awareness of this issue. We dedicate a portion of every sale and focus our efforts on it, so that together, we can save this majestic creature from endangerment and extinction.

The Jaguar Logo on the Acosta Tequlia Bottle

Acosta Tequila is not only the the top tequila out there as I have been exposed to the rare education of legendary cellar master Pierrette Trichet my palette can taste the subtle difference especially since Acosta is aged for 18 month in cognac barrels lets hope they are LXIII barrels !

Have a great Pre-Xmas Week!

Michou
