Thomas Fuchs Creative Melamine Dinnerware
“Let them eat cake” is the most famous quote attributed to Marie-Antoinette, the queen of France during the French Revolution. As the story goes, it was the queen’s response upon being told that her starving peasant subjects had no bread. Because cake is more expensive than bread, the anecdote has been cited as an example of Marie-Antoinette’s obliviousness to the conditions and daily lives of ordinary people.
We at Thomas Fuchs Creative do not consider ourselves ordinary by any stretch of the imagination we always look to find the EXTRAORDINARY in everything. It is part of our ethos in our lives and in our company to always be in the flow and give back by shedding light on things that make us smile.
Thomas Fuchs for The NapKing Pink Crocodile Linen Table Cloth
When it came to planning our 10 year wedding anniversary party it was key to make the theme come alive.
As you may know being based in Miami in wonderful friends garden where the party took place, it was a no brainer to use Thomas' new PINK CROCODILE tablecloths, by renown second generation table linen company The NapKing, being that in Florida Alligators can be found in gardens or wherever there is water.

I Then went on the hunt as to where I could find bread shaped in the form of a crocodile. I had so many friends who wanted to help and lead me down many a rabbit hole, some even offering to bake and gift me the bread.I had to tell everyone to back off and STAY CALM...
THANKS to Youtube I managed to track down baker Remy Gratesol of Aux Delices LLC. The only one catch is he was located in Fort Meyers Florida which is a two and a half hour car ride from Miami.

With over 20 guests flying in and staying with us, to coordinating all the pick up and arrivals it was an impossible task to be able to leave our guest in Thomas' hands and make it over to Fort Meyers and back.... but as they say... "where there is a will there is MICHOU"

Without a peep to anyone I hopped into my blue VW station wagon and off I went crossing nothing than Florida's renown "Alligator Alley" to get my 5 Alligator breads.
Remy, who hails from Lyon France, settled with his wife and 3 kids in Fort Meyers Florida where he took over his uncles bakery. Schooled as a pastry chef Remy quickly expanded his business and started popping up at all 9 Farmers Markets in the area.
Remy was not cavalier in explaining his art to be and how if the bread was not kept at the right temperature in the right conditions it would directly reflect on him and if the conditions were not sustainable he would not bake the bread for us. This gave me even more confidence that these were artisanal breads which are in the DNA of everything we do and it matched our custom made evening.

All the guests at our party were in awe of the Crocodile details from the printed graphic name cards to the mini fuchsia painted crocodile name card holders to the breads.
The bread was such a hit Thomas has frozen them. One even made an appearance (see below photo) at our Sunday Brunch for 50ppl in our home where combined with bagels and full spread the Bread was the talk of the town.
