When you are lying around on a Sunday and you realize you got an invite to a talk, one jumps up and hops in a car, only to be transported into another world. This was the case 2 Sundays ago when Alicia had sent an invite for a Talk/Tour being given at her home, about her home. We have been to her home many times however we had never heard the history behind it.
Alicia Kossick hails from Texas by way of Mexico and is the chicest thing to happen to Miami dare I say EVER! Spotted at Maison Objet sitting amongst her wares, Thomas and I immediately gravitated over to her booth as the traveling eye always senses style and quality. Alicia's latest and her resurrecting old methods of weaving and giving back to all the communities in South and Central America leaves us envious while always in wonderment of how she gets it all done while raising 4 kids and a husband to boot!
Her home is comprised of lost and found objects of art combined with historical artifacts one could only find in a Museum. Alicia moved to Miami from Tuxedo Park, New York and has become the harbinger of style and taste. Her shop "The Polished Coconut" is not only a retail store but a showroom of custom furniture, as she serves as an interior decorator, just another one of her many talents.
Where other's advertise themselves as professional decorators Alicia lends herself to being discovered and it's only the most prolific eye that can pick up her sense and ask her the magic question "Do you do homes as well?". Ms.Kossick counts many a family whose homes she has done, families with surnames too notable to mention!
