13 — A Love Story in Fashion, Family, and Fate

Thomas & Michou 2007

Welcome to our ONLINE STORE and blog.

Every week we invite you for a peak behind the scene to see the things, people and places that inspire us.

This week we take you behind the scenes of our big celebration of our life, family, design company and fate.

There are numbers, and then there are numbers that follow you through life, quietly shaping your story. For Thomas and me, that number has always been 13.

We share the same birthday—March 13th. Eighteen years ago, we met on Match.com, unknowingly stepping into a life that would be defined by that very number. And on 3/13/13 - March 13, 2013—when marriage became legal in New York City—we were married in a seven-day celebration that culminated in Miami with a black-tie dinner. That evening, I wore my grandfather’s, Monsieur Chulani's, custom burgundy custom Yves Saint Laurent tuxedo jacket (1962)—a piece that has since become a symbol of legacy, style, and continuity.

Thirteen years later, on 3/13/26, we celebrated again—this time in a way that felt even more meaningful. My mother stayed in town to mark the occasion with us, adding another layer of love and generational connection to a date that already holds so much significance.

Dressing the Moment

For me, fashion has always been storytelling.

As someone who follows the runway seasons religiously, I turned—as I often do—to YouTube to watch the Spring 2026 shows, looking for inspiration. Almost instantly, I was drawn to the return of the shawl collar, a timeless silhouette that felt like a quiet nod to the past.

That was my cue.

I reached for my late grandfather’s custom Gaston Baud tuxedo from 1957, with its lead-weighted double-vent jacket—a piece that carries both craftsmanship and memory. I paired it with my 1990s Tom Ford-era Gucci black trousers, slightly flared, echoing the new direction under Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford’s FW 2026 runway. The look came together with my grandfather’s Jean Daniel ivory silk tissue shirt, an ivory Brunello Cucinelli belt, and my beloved Gucci horsebit shoes, also from the Tom Ford era.

The Genesis

There was a quiet dialogue happening in the outfit—past and present, heritage and evolution, my grandfather and me. As they say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

One of the most inspiring ways to celebrate style—especially during meaningful moments like anniversaries—is simply by shopping your own closet. There is something incredibly rewarding about rediscovering pieces you already own and reimagining them in ways you never originally intended. Mixing and matching items that weren’t bought as a “set” creates a sense of individuality and spontaneity that feels far more personal than anything newly purchased. It’s a reminder that true style isn’t about accumulation, but about creativity.

The "Fit" - Like The Kids Say

In many ways, this approach also embraces a more sustainable mindset—honoring what we already have, extending the life of each piece, and finding new joy in the familiar.

The Gift of Style and Symbolism

While we were recently in Mexico City for ART MX, Thomas gave me an anniversary gift that felt deeply personal—a Lalanne-inspired Heard Gallery cuff with a large cabochon tanzanite, paired with my vintage oval gold watch set on an Azure crocodile strap.

Crocodile became the unexpected theme of the evening.

Living in Florida, crocodiles are part of our everyday landscape, and they have long inspired Thomas—most recently in his crocodile table linen collection for the renowned Italian brand The NapKing. It felt poetic that this motif—rooted in nature, place, and design—would weave its way into our anniversary celebration.

When Everything Aligns

There are moments in life—rare and fleeting—when everything aligns. When what you wear, how you feel, and who you are with come together in perfect harmony.

This was one of those nights.

A celebration not just of 13 years of marriage, but of 18 years of partnership, of family, of legacy, of style, and of shared vision. My mother at our side, my grandfather’s pieces worn with pride, Thomas’s creativity ever-present—it was a reminder that the most meaningful celebrations are the ones layered with history, intention, and love.

3/13/13, celebrated again on 3/13/26.
A number. A story. A life.

And proof that sometimes, 13 truly is the luckiest number of all.

Have a great weekend,

MICHOU
